The song was simple, sweet and pure like wine
I listened hoping there to drown like sighs
despite cliche and trite, I knew this time
would need distraction, lost in cries and lies
A story where a plane lifts wings and love
departures, disappointment, anguish too
now rides the air with hope and dreams enough
what’s left is only what winds blow through.
He’s gone and life seems different, as it should;
there’s places memory dares not look the same
and silence where a voice spoke where it could.
I knew this day was coming, not its name.
He flies for dreams adventure brings and fills;
I stay and wait and wonder if he will.
